Why do I call myself a Wordsmith? What does a wordsmith do?

Well, a wordsmith is another word for a writer or an author.

Like a blacksmith forging works of hot steel from raw materials, I forge words into something meaningful and lasting. Maybe a technical description or something for the marketing department, I assemble and join words with imagination to create excitement, education, imaginary places and clarity.

As a blacksmith refines and hones the rough item into, say, a tool or work of art, so do I review my creation then refine and perfect it. Then my product is ready for my users - the readers.

Technical documents showing how something works or is made or marketing materials spelling out the benefits of products - these are my main commercial outputs. Additionally, I write short stories of a variety of genres and poetry.

Words - what exactly are they? They are an infinite source of information components, some complete in themselves, others only making a completed item when united with others. Tied together, the words become metamorphic, changing their meaning from the pressure of the surrounding sentences. Maybe the other words caress, maybe they entangle. Whatever they do, the writer's skill ensures the proper outcome.

If you'd like to know more (or even have a project), you can reach me initially by contacting me here.

I await your instruction to help market a product, create a technical manual or report an event or just transport you to another place without you needing to do anything more than flip a page.

Lullaby                Lyrics by William Blake

O for a voice like thunder, and a tongue
To drown the throat of war! - When the senses
Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness,
Who can stand?
When the souls of the oppressed
Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?
When the whirlwind of fury comes from the
Throne of god, when the frowns of his countenance
Drive the nations together, who can stand?
When Sin claps his broad wings over the battle,
And sails rejoicing in the flood of Death;
When souls are torn to everlasting fire,
And fiends of Hell rejoice upon the slain.
O who can stand? O who hath caused this?
O who can answer at the throne of God?
The Kings and Nobles of the Land have done it!
Hear it not, Heaven, thy Ministers have done it

(put to music by Loreena McKennitt on her Elemental album)
